Importing Tourist Points of Interest
Tourist Points of Interest (POI) can be automatically fed into Retorik Studio from two leading French tourism data sources: DATAtourisme and Tourinsoft.
DATAtourisme
DATAtourisme is the French national public platform that centralises and distributes all French tourism data as Open Data — meaning open, standardised, and free data.
It aggregates millions of qualified records, regularly updated by local tourism offices and regional tourism committees (CRT):
- Cultural heritage: castles, museums, religious buildings...
- Natural heritage: parks, lakes, beaches...
- Activities and leisure: hiking trails, theme parks, guided tours...
- Events: festivals, markets, concerts, exhibitions...
- Accommodation and dining: hotels, campsites, restaurants...
The platform is managed by the French Directorate General for Enterprise (DGE), in collaboration with the ADN Tourisme network.
How the import works
Retorik Studio connects to your DATAtourisme feed to automatically import your POIs on a defined schedule.
Configuration is done in the back office, under "Advanced settings > Hospitality > Data import".
Tourinsoft
Tourinsoft (developed by Décibelles Data) is one of France's leading Tourist Information System (TIS) software solutions. It is the day-to-day data entry and management tool used by tourism offices, where local agents create and maintain destination records for their territory.
Tourinsoft fits into the broader data ecosystem as follows:
- Collection: a tourism office agent enters or updates a record in Tourinsoft (opening hours, prices, photos, contact details...).
- Centralisation: data is validated and harmonised at the departmental or regional level.
- Distribution: Tourinsoft exports this data to DATAtourisme via automated pipelines, or exposes it directly as an RSS feed.
How the import works
Retorik Studio can consume a Tourinsoft RSS feed in V3 format to import your POIs directly from your TIS, without going through DATAtourisme.
Configuration is done in the back office, under "Advanced settings > Hospitality > Data import".
Both sources can coexist. If your organisation uses Tourinsoft and your data is also published on DATAtourisme, prefer the Tourinsoft V3 feed to get the freshest data, before it propagates through the national platform.
